Parsley succeeds best in a rich, mellow soil. As the seed ger- minates very slowly it should be sown in spring, previously soak- ing for a few hours in tepid water; sow thickly in rows a foot apart and half an inch deep. For winter use protect in a frame or light cellar. Carter's Champion Moss Cnrled. The best for gar- nishing. Oz., 10c; 1-4 20c; lb., 60c, 5 Double Curled. A fine dwarf variety, beautifully curled; excellent for garnishing. Oz., 10c; 1-4 lb., 20c; lb., 60c, 5 Perpetual. Extra curled, remaining a longer time without going to seed than other varieties. Oz., 15c, 5 PEPPER Grown largely for pickles. Sow in a hot-bed in March or early in April, and transplant in the open ground when the weather is favorable. They should be planted in warm, mellow soil, in rows 18 inches apart. They may also be sown in the open ground when all danger of frost is past, and the soil is warm and settled. PKT. Sweet mountain. More largely grown than other varieties; large size and mild; used for making stuffed pickles. Oz., 20c; 1 4 1b , 50c; lb., $1 E0, 5.
