The hoys, four in num-ber, have between them a deficiency of eighteen teeth. The fatherhad never erupted the upper lateral incisor, and the mother isthe only member of the family in whom all the teeth haveerupted. While the absence of the complete dentition, both deciduousand permanent, and of the permanent alone, is an extremely rareoccurrence, nevertheless eases of this kind are on record in den-tal literature. Bennett reports a case in which the upper cuspidsoccupying positions near the median line, one upper molar oneach side, and one lower molar, also on each side, were the onlyteeth of the permanent set to erupt. An insufficiency in the num-ber of teeth is less frequently encountered than an excess (super-.
