The tropical paradise of Tuvalu with fisherman on an island off Funafuti. These low lying islands are rapidly being eroded and washed away by rising sea levels. Satellite altimeters show that the seas around these vulnerable coral atoll islands are rising by 5mm a year. Tuvalu may well be the first nation on earth to be lost to climate change. Already some residents have moved to New Zealand, as ever increasing flooding events make life on the low lying islands difficult.
