Sardinian Vermentino Vineyard – Grape Plants Growing in Rows Under a Warm Sun. Arzachena, Sardinia, Italy.

Vermentino grape plants growing in a Northern Sardianian vineyard. Wine has been produced in Sardinia at least since the time of the Phoenicians. More recently vintners have begun blending the powerful flavours and reducing the alcohol content to produce some delicious dry whites and sophisticated reds. Vermentino wine is produced in the north of the island. The most renowned red wines are from a blend of Cannonau grape. This was introduced in the 13th century by the Spanish. Vernacchia is Sardinia’s best-known fortified wine.
