Here it is symbolic of Christ, or of theChristian Faith, because of an acrostic whichEusebius, Augustine and others refer to, onthe Greek word, Ix^vi. They took the letters of this word, and madeeach letter the initial letter of a separate wordin the phrase : I^ooi}? XpiarS*;, Oeov T/09 Sonjp( Jesus Christ, the Son of God, ourSaviour).
