Karen Blixen's grave with fresh red roses the day after her 130th birthday on a sunny spring day in the bird sanctuary at Rungstedlund at the Sound 20 km north of Copenhagen. The surrounding trees are casting shadows. Rungstedlund is also known as the Karen Blixen Museum. The home of the Danish author Karen Blixen, who was born on the estate in 1885, and lived there for most of her life, except for her years in Kenya on the African farm. These years are chronicled in her book, Out of Africa. Today the property is the Karen Blixen Museum managed by the Rungstedlund Foundation as an historic house museum. Tourists often appreciate a walk in the bird sanctuary and forest behind the house to visit Karen Blixen's grave on the property.
