The twopersons to whom the credit of its build-ing is most due, are Colonel Fisher Gayone of the leading merchants of thetown, and Captain Judah Woodruff,who was the architect and master build-er : and who also built a number of thefine and substantial dweltins houses ofthe village, most of which still remainand in good condition. In building thechurch, no pains were spared to havethe material of the best quality, and thework most thoroughly done.
