The Supermarine is a British racing seaplane developed by Mitchell to participate in the Schneider Trophy competition in 1931. Flown by members of the Royal Air Force High Speed Flight, the type competed successfully, winning the Schneider Trophy outright for Britain. It later broke the world air speed record, attaining a maximum speed of mph.
