Water lily (Nymphaea stellata). This artwork, watercolour on vellum, is by the British artist Sydney Parkinson (). Parkinson travelled on and died during Captain James Cook's first voyage around the world. He is most famous for the illustrations he made during Cook's voyage, but this work dates from 1767, before that voyage. Held in the Botany Library at the Natural History Museum, London, UK.
