Scalenohendral calcite crystals. These tabular (plate-shaped) crystals are formed of calcite (calcium carbonate), a very common mineral that also occurs as chalk, limestone and marble. They have in this instance intergrown into a wavy pattern, which is rare. These crystals are from Dalnegorsk, Russia. Actual height: 15 centimetres.
