BREMERTON, Washington (May 8, 2017) Boatswain's Mate 3rd Class Ryan Smith, from Toledo, Ohio, cuts off the end of a retention wire on an underway replenishment station's pulley systems for maintenance in USS John C. Stennis’ (CVN 74) hangar bay. The stations are used to tether ships and receive cargo during underway replenishments. John C. Stennis is conducting a planned incremental availability (PIA) at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility, during which the ship is undergoing scheduled maintenance and upgrades.
