LIST OF TESTED GARDEN SEEDS FOR 1925. 27. PEAS Culture—For first early Peas sow smooth seeded varieties in a light, rich soil, as early in March or April as the ground can be worked. Sow both smooth and wrinkled seeded varie- ties in April or May for later crops. Discontinue sowing from June to Au- gust, after which, by sow- ing an extra early sort, a good crop can generally be secured. As Peas suffer considerably from drought during the hot summer months, it will be found of great benefit to sow in a trench six inches in depth, covering the Peas to a depth of two inches. As soon as sufficient growth has been made, draw the eartli about the vines. In this way more moisture is kept about the roots than if sown on the level. The wrinkled varieties are not as hardy as the smooth sorts, and should be plant- ed later, owing to their liability to rot In the ground. One pound to 75 feet ot drill.
