Shell inflated, irregularly trapezoidal, somewhat curved, polished, shining,covered with a dark olive-green periostracum, which becomes paler posteriorly and is rather wrinkled towards the anterior ventral region ; both valves marked with irre- gular concentric growth-lines, angularly swollen anteriorly -r nmbones much eroded; dorsal margin straight; ventral margin curved, slightly gaping in the middle ; anterior side sharply rounded ; posterior side sloping, obliquely rounded below ; interior of shell nacreous, polished, bluish grey ante- riorly, brownish bronze posteriorly. Long. 8'5, lat. 18 mm. Hub. Modiola taprobanen •> is Tellina viator. Tellina viator, sp. n. Shell thin, elongately ovate, bright pink, concentrically striate, the stria? becoming much coarser anteriorly; dorsal margin almost straight ; ventral margin scarcely rounded ; anterior side abruptly rounded ; posterior side sloping above, somewhat rostrate below.
