Chicago, E paranoid ^^ — when you glaze. The Paranoid Company, Cleveland, Ohio TORONTO, ONT. Florists' Picnic. The big event last week was the an- nual picnic of the Toronto Eetail Flo- rists' Club. The retailers and growers, with their families, gathered at Long Branch .July 6 for an afternoon's and evening's sport. All the growers were represented and there was good fellow- ship. An excellent list of races was sched- uled, all of which wore keenly con- tested. The prizes were valuable ones, donated by members of the club and a few friends. It was evidently tlie growers' day off, so far as the main fea- tures were concerned. At the opening of the games, they lost the ball game by a close score to the retailers. J. Car- ter was referee. The last and most an- ticipated stunt was the annual tug of war for the big silver cup. During the last four years, it had been won twice by each team. As this was tlie decid- ing pull, the keenest interest was shown by all present. All the heavy-weights in both branches had l)ecn assembled, and in a pull to decide the retailers finally won out and the cnp goes to them for keeps. In the evening the crowd went out in motorboats or bathed. Later in the evening there was dancing at tlie pavilion. Various Notes. J. A. Neal has purchased a store on Danforth avenue and will open an up- town store there. S. A. McFadden, president of the Toronto Retail Florists' Club, Mrs. Mc- Fadden and family are summering at their cottage, at Otter lake.
