Various Notes. \ most effective window display was used by the Woodlawn Flower Shop in honor of Mothers' day. The two sides of the show window were covered with canvas painted to resemble the wall of a brick house, having a window in the center of each room. Inside was placed a figure of an old lady, quaintly dressed, seated in an old-fashioned chair, near a spinning wheel. In her arms were a bunch of Columbia roses and in one hand she held a florist's card with a [Concluded on vage I'.'ts.] PORTIiAND, ORE. Tlie Market. Market conditions are about normal for this time of year. There is a good, steady demand for flowers and the sup- ply is keeping pace with the demand insofar as the indoor stock is concerned, but outdoor flowers are rather slow, on account of weather conditions. Roses are plentiful and of excellent quality. Tulips are also plentiful and are of good quality this year. A few indoor gladioli have appeared in some of the stores and they will arrive in larger quantities from now on. The growers are kept busy now fill- ing orders for bedding stock and yard decorations. Mothers' day was a big day for the local stores. Everyone reports a fine business, much better than last year, and predictions are made that this day will soon be one of the biggest days of the year. Club Meeting. The monthly meeting of the Portland Floral Society was held May 11, with a fairly good attendance and several visi- tors. The meeting was decidedly inter- esting and
