The variousplants from which istle is extracted are found at present chiefiy on the idains andrugged mountain slopes of the States of Coahuila, Tamaulipas, Nuevo Leon, andSan Luis Potosi. The central towns for the trade in the several States are: InCoahuila, Saltillo; in Nuevo Leon, Monterey; in Tamaulipas, .laumava, Tula, Tam-pico, and formerly Matamoras; in San Luis Potosi, San Luis Potosi.
