Facade (detail of porch), Cathedral of St John the Baptist (Primatial), Lyon, Rhone, Rhone-Alpes, France. The bishop of Lyon is also the Primate of the Gauls and therefore this Cathedral is also known as the Primatial. Gothic Cathedral buildt between 12th and 15th Century on the site of an older 6th Century church. The church is very ornate with beautiful sculpture on many parts although some was destroyed during the French Revolution.
