They also contracted with John Broughton toclear the same, and make a good and suflicient post andrail fence around it for the consideration of $30, said fenceto be six rails high, and to make a permanent gate sixfeet wide, on the west side, and to be done by the 6th ofApril following. At the annual town-meeting of 1840, $60 was voted topay for the ground, and the clearing and fencing of thesame. Jan. 21, 1841, the work was examined, found doneaccording to contract, and accepted.
