Stone building at Dhafar incorporating a stone carved animal head from the ancient Himyarite capital

The Himyarite Kingdom ruled the southwestern part of the Arabian Peninsula from the 2nd Century BCE to the 5th century CE. Their capital was located at Dhafar which is now a small town in the Ibb Governorate of Yemen. Although no archaeological remains are visible in situ of the former palace and city, ancient carved stones have been incorporated into a number of more recent buildings.
