Lucian Ercolani, the founder of Ercol in 1920, set out to develop and enhance the range of Windsor chairs that he designed in the 1950s into a complete and coherent range of furniture for the home. He took the very simple aesthetic and the use of solid timbers into dining tables and chairs and a huge range of cabinets. The distinctive Windsor dining chair combines strength and durability with classic elegance. The six ash spindles and curved seatback, alongside the sculpted saddle seat provide a comfortable and supportive sit. The chair bow is steam bent from a single straight ash rail and then sanded and shaped to give its subtle and elegant profile.
