The cairn standing beside the A887 was built on the spot that Roderick Mackenzie died protecting Bonnie Prince Charlie in 1746 (he looked similar so pretended to be him allowing the real Prince to escape). I didn't know whilst shooting this photograph that his body was burried on the other side of the road, slightly hidden, so another trip is now being planned.
