Recovery of command module 'Columbia' in the Pacific Ocean, Apollo II mission, 24 July 1969. US Navy divers assist in retrieving the astronauts from the capsule after a successful 'splashdown', with all three crew members safe inside. The Apollo 11 Lunar Module, code named Eagle, with astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on board, had landed on the Moon on 20 July 1969. Apollo 11 was the fifth manned Apollo mission, and was the first to land on the Moon.
