The Prisoner was a 17-episode series on British TV first broadcast in 1967. It followed the fortunes of a British agent, known only as 'Number Six' as he is interrogated while held captive in a mysterious seaside village (in reality, Portmeirion in North Wales). It became an enduring cult hit with its sometimes surreal and countercultural themes.
