The upper one wasnamed Fort Anne, in honour of the Queen of England ; the middle one,of which Lydiuss house formed a part, was called Fort Nicholson, in honour of the commander; and the lower one, just below the mouth of the Batten-Kill, was namedFort Saratoga.
