The south of China has a number of Chinese minority ethnic groups living in Guizhou and Yunnan provinces. The Dong are one of the 56 minority groups recognized by the People's Republic of China. They are skilled carpenters, building unique stilt houses and other wooden structures like drum towers and wind and rain bridges. Ethnic minorities have a dispensation from the one child rule in China.
