Nantwich, Cheshire, UK 26th Jan, 2019 . Somerset heraldry worn by man of the King's army. The Battle of Nantwich. For more than 40 years, the faithful troops of The Sealed Knot have gathered in the historic town of Nantwich, Cheshire, to re-enact the bloody battle that took place in 1644. Now known as Holly Holy Day, the annual event re-enacts the battle that ended the long and painful siege of the town. Credit: MWI/AlamyLiveNews.

The arms were officially granted on December 29, 1911, the supporters and crest were granted on October 14, 2003. The arms show a dragon from the attributed arms of the Kingdom of Wessex. The Wessex dragon also features in the arms of the neighbouring counties of Dorset, Avon and Wiltshire. To make the design distinctive, the dragon supports a civic mace. Thus the arms show that this is a local council in Wessex.
