Ngarata Homestead at Totaranui in the Able Tasman National Park, South Island, New Zealand. The building dates from 1914. It was built in the "Californian Bungalow" style, greatly influenced by the Artsand Crafts movement, unual in New Zealand at the time. It was built from local timber from Hunter's Sawmill, Tommy Hunter being one of the builders along with Herbert "Bert" Pratt. A new wing was added in 1920. In 1948 it ws bought by the Crown. Today the building is recognised as a building of historical significance by the DOC and is one of only two remaining homesteads in the Abel Tasman National Park.
