Gardenias are divided into stove and greenhousevai-leties; but the distinction is deceptive, inasmuch as allGardenias thrive best treated as stove plants when in a growingstate. The latter expression again has led to have mostly flowered their Gardenias in heat, andthen forced them to rest in a cool and dry temperature till nextyear. This is, however, by no means necessary. By keeping theplants in heat they grow and flower, mature their buds, andflower and grow again throughout the season. Under thistreatment the plants gain a robustnes
