Arctic sea ice in the Canada Basin, aerial photograph. This image was obtained on 28 March 2014 by Operation IceBridge's Digital Mapping System. Operation IceBridge is a NASA project that monitors polar ice cover using aircraft instead of satellites. It was introduced in 2009 as a replacement for the malfunctioning ICESat satellite.
