An antique wood engraving (woodcut) of a black bear made by Thomas Bewick in 1790.
This 18th century drawing of a bear was engraved by Thomas Bewick in approx. 1790. The bear is chained, and was perhaps seen in a circus. It is not a particularly accurate-looking drawing, but has an antique feel to it. I have marked it as a cut-out because it would be fairly easy to go round it and erase what little background is shown, although it would probably be best to keep the ground and the chain.
