A number of experiments with ethyl mercaptan were performed on deej)ly etherised rabbits; the solutions used varying in strength in different cases. As Avith allyl sulphide the best diluent was found to be olive oil. The injection of 5 minims (0'30 of a 20 per cent, solution into the jugular vein of a large rabbit weighing 22-30 grams produced a slight fall in blood pressure, followed 40 seconds later by a slight rise above the normal. The highest pressure was recorded 130 seconds later, and was maintained for 90 seconds; then a gradual fall set in which reached the normal in 260 Please note that these images are extracted from scanned page images that may have been digitally enhanced for readability - coloration and appearance of these illustrations may not perfectly resemble the original Biochemical Society (Great Britain); University of Liverpool.
