Many of the houses here are perfect httlepalaces, among others, the one which was inhabitedwhen I was in Sydney by Lady Martin, widow of thegreat Australian jurisconsult. In the Museum, a great shanty in brick which disfig-ures the park, is to be found a collection of picturessigned by some of the greatest masters; but the thingwhich struck me as most noteworthy was a collectionof water-colors, of which the director, Mr. Montefiore,himself an artist of talent, has a right to be proud.
