Genetic research. Conceptual computer artwork of genetic and proteomic images on photographic film. DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) is a helical molecule that is partly shown at lower left. The spiralling DNA strands (orange) are linked by four types of nucleotide base (blue, green, red and yellow). The base sequence varies, making up a genetic code that is unique for every individual, represented by the artwork of a man (centre left). DNA, found in the chromosomes (upper left) of cell nuclei, controls the production of proteins (one at upper right), the major structural components of life. Protein analysis (proteomics) and gene analysis (genomics) uses chromatography (lower right).
