Berlin, Tiergarten. The HKW {Haus der Kulturen der Welt) is situated alongside the Spree River and was a gift from USA. It is the venue for concerts, exhibitions, conferences, theatre and dance. It was designed in 1957 by American architect , Hugh Stubbins. Berliners often refer to iit as the 'pregnant Oyster' (Schwangere Auster).
