It is the second-largest church building in the United States and stands as the fourth-tallest structure in Washington DC, a feature emphasized by sitting on a high point overlooking over the city. It is best known as Washington National Cathedral, but its formal name is Cathedral Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul in the City and Diocese of Washington.
