"The Splash", sculpture by Peter Hodgkinson MA (RCA) is based on an action photograph, that became known as "The Splash", of Tom Finney on a waterlogged Stamford Bridge pitch. The photograph was awarded Sports Photograph of the Year 1956. The concept to recreate it as a sculpture and fountain was by Ben Casey. The statue is outside the National Football Museum and alongside Preston North End's Deepdale stadium. The statue was unveiled by Sir Tom Finney on 31st. July 2004.
