The statue of a friar on the front of the Black Friar pub in Blackfriars, London

This pub at the north end of Blackfriar's Bridge in London dates from about 1875 with the ground floor rebuilt around 1905. It has been described by Pevsner as 'the best pub in the Arts and Crafts fashion in London.' It's distinctive wedge, or flat-iron, shape made more sense before the surrounding buildings were demolished.
