Forming a ver}' perceptible element of our enjoyment of the lawn, they do not, however, make an actual part of our lawn composition. It is the airangement of foliage, of trees, and shrubs, and gi'ass that should compose and characterize the lawn. Flowers there will doubtless be everywhere, on the trees and shrubs and along the bases of masses of foliage, where the hardy herbaceous plants will complete and accentuate the charming junction of tree and shrub foliage with lawn grass.
