The H. J. Weber & Sons Nursery Co. has closed a contract to furnish the parks of East St. Louis with shrubs and trees for fall planting. The order was a bulky one, amounting to nearly $4,000. W. 8. Eowe, John Connon and Alex. Siegel have returned from their summer vacation with a good coat of bronze and are ready for a busy season. They say they spent a most enjoyable time. George Angermueller, A. Meyer, Jr., Charles Schoenle and William Ossick took a day off and went fishing Septem- ber 13, at Spanish Lake. Notwithstand- ing that it was Friday and the thir- teenth, they got back safe and with considerable luck, according to their fish stories. Oscar Kuehn, head of the wire de- partment of the W. C. Smith Wholesale Floral Co., with his family, spent a day recently as guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. De Wever, at Olivette, Mo. Dur- ing the day Mr. Kuehn took a number of interesting photos of the different parts of Mr. De Wever's rose and gla- diolus fields. A jMirty of society leaders are plan- ning to hold a flower day early in Octo- ber, when flowers will be sold on the street corners and in hotels and thea- ters for the benefit of the Children's Home Society of Missouri. John Connon, F. Vennemann, Ed. Denker, E. W. Guy, W. E. Ogle, F. M. Widmer, Frank Weber, W. E. Bowe and C. E. De Wever were the suburban mem- bers who attended the club meeting last week.
