Selma, Ala, Jan. 20, 1882Deab Bro. K:—. Oar AlabamaState Convention has come and commencement was very unpro-pitious, bat the result was a decidedsuccess. A heavy rain on Wednes-day evening kept many away andderanged our programme, but wehad a pleasant meeting and moretime for prayer. On Thursday at two oclock theconvention met and chose Rev. Elliott, president pro tern, andRev. H. Woodsinail, were then appointed,and, while preparing their reports,an able address was given by S. Feemster. The committee onpermanent organization reportedthat they recommended the organi-z ition of a State Christian Associa-tion, auxiliary to the National Chris-tian Association. They also pre-sented a constitution and nominatedpermanent officers. After due dis-cussion the constitution was adopt-ed and the folio wing officers elected:President, Rev. W, fl. McAlpine,Salma. Secretary, Rev. Gr. M. Elliott
