New Belt-Driven Air Compressors THE Ingersoll-Rand Company, New York, has an-nounced a new line of belt-driven air compressors,known as the Imperial Type XCB. Features ofconstruction include plate valves, for both the air intakeand discharge, and five-step clearance control for regu-lating the compressors output. The plate valves used in this type of compressor arethe result of a complete analysis of the light-weightplate type of valve. They include features which havebeen found necessary to the functioning of this typeof valve, the most important of these being that the. Belt-Driven Air Compressor valve is supported throughout its entire operation inperfect alignment without any form of wearing guide. With the clearance control the compressor is auto-matically loaded or unloaded in five successive steps,these steps being obtained by the reduction or additionof clearance space to the air cylinders. The compressorwill operate at full, three-quarter, one-half, one-fourthand no loads.
