9200 soldiers have been deployed across Cuba to fumigate properties against the aedes aegypti mosquitoes that cause Zika virus


On Monday 22 February 2016 Cuban President Raul Castro announced that 9,200 soldiers and 200 police officers would be deployed across Cuba in a campaign to eradicate the aedes aegypti mosquitoes that cause the Zika virus
