Six bronze steles comprise this superb monument to Jacques Cartier, executed by the famed Bourgault family of Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, and standing at the site on the Baie de Gaspe where Cartier first landed in New France in July, 1534. The Musee de la Gaspesie is adjacent the site near the town of Gaspe, Quebec, Canada.
