Baden: A finial, for a flag stave. From the reign of Margrave Carl Friedrich (Margrave 1738, Elector 1803, Grand Duke 1806, died 1811). Fire gilt bronze, with ancient repairs. Reversed cipher "CF" under an Elector's hat, set in a rocaille cartouche. The original gilding is largely preserved. The socket with side straps. A definite museum-quality piece. (Cf.
