Weedy sea dragon (Phllopteryx taeniolatus) carrying eggs. It is the male common or weedy sea dragon that carries the eggs on its tail (centre). Its protrusions and body colouring allow it to resemble floating seaweed. Weedy sea dragons inhabit the kelp-covered rocky reefs of the waters around Australia. It feeds on shrimp, sea lice and larval fish by sucking through its pipe-like mouth (upper right). It can grow up to 45 centimetres in length. Photographed off Kangaroo Island, Australia.
