Medallion with pair of lovers flanked by medallions with a Bacchic nymph (or taste), & personification of Africa (or Fire, or Touch) (ALENTOUR) arabesque frame of floral garlands, scallop shells, musical trophies, & baskets of flowers This panel's composition is based directly on the Gobelins series Les Amours des Dieux, after compositions by Boucher, Pierre, Van Loo & Vien, with alentours by Maurice Jacques. Specifically, these figure compositions may be after Van Loo, but from an indirect source. This medallion scene must have been a popular theme in Aubusson's decorative tapestries with medallions, as a similar one is found in GCPA 0240378.
