Twilight tarn Koscisuzko National Park, NSW Australia
Water has a dynamic quality in an image that can be used as a compositional tool, but also to add a real sense of depth. This image was composed with the hope of colour from the sky but as the sun set behind me, none eventuated. Not to be thwarted I knew the shape of the tarn would carry the image with it still reflecting the sky, I just had to get enough light on the landscape. As the clouds parted above me soft blue light filtered over the scene. While not overly dramtic as I'd wished it shows a quietness that is also compelling.
