The Humboldt Building is the multi-story building next to a church built on the future site of the Fox Theatre. During the first decade of the 20th century, Midtown development was taking off. Because of the major hospital in the area, a large patient base was created for other medical practices opening up. The Humboldt Building, built in 1908, marked a new era in the medical field in St. Louis, when it was the first office building built for the sole purpose of medical offices and facilities.
