Jim Crow Rail Benders where the kinks occur, then use the rail bender or jimcrow and the track will present a much better appear-ance. These are also very handy in cutting the rail with chisel, put on the bender andbreak it. Ratchet bits. When drilling holes the bits shouldnot be crowded too hard, as they are generally highlytempered and are likely to break at the point. Seethat the bit is in the ratchet straight and fits snug. Ratchet drills. Keep them as free from grit anddirt as possible. When placing them for drilling ahole, be sure to set them straight, so that there will beno crooked or misplaced hole. Standard track drills have supplanted the use ofthe ordinary ratchet drills to a great extent now andthere are numerous styles on the market. 312 THE TRACKMANS HELPER Striking hammer.
