Tiger leech (Haemadipsa picta) attached to a leaf. Leeches attach themselves to the skin using suckers and create a wound with their three sharp jaw plates. Their saliva contains hirudin, a chemical which prevents the blood from clotting. Tiger leeches are terrestrial and are found in Borneo, Indochina and Taiwan. Photographed in Danum Valley Conservation Area, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia.
